Vitamin C, Dairy & Abdominal Weight
A study published in Public Health Nutrition researched the link between vitamin C, dairy and abdominal weight. Participants included 900 Iranian women, ages 40 to 60 years old. Those with low intakes of vitamin C, calcium and dairy carried more abdominal weight.
The study found that those with low vitamin C intake had a 131% chance of higher abdominal fat accumulation, while low calcium increased the risk by 30%. Researchers said, in addition to vitamin C and calcium, lifestyle modifications such as increased physical activity should lower abdominal weight.*
