Vitamin D & Aging
A recent study published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition in November 2007, studied vitamin D and its effects on aging.*
Vitamin D helps to stop inflammation, diminishing the turnover of
leukocytes. A leukocyte telomere length (LTL) is a predictor of
aging-related diseases. It decreases with each cell cycle and increased inflammation. Researchers studied the effect of vitamin D concentrations on LTL.
Participants included 2160 women, ages 18-79. Researchers found that those with higher vitamin D concentrations are associated with longer LTL, which may present potentially beneficial effects on aging and age-related disease. Vitamin D can easily be increased in the diet through nutritional supplementation.
Vitamin D is available in Viteyes® Multivitamin Companion and Viteyes® Complete as part of your daily multivitamin.
